My Platform

By Bonnie Jean von Krogh

Candidate for Democratic Party County Central Committee; County of San Francisco; Assembly District 12

This information is provided by the candidate
I will work to elect more women to public office, increase political involvement among students & young people, and help the Democratic Party reach out to new and longtime Democrats.
Support More Women for Public Office:

I will use my strong ties in the women's community to outreach to, mentor & support more women for public office. As a Board Member of the San Francisco Women's Political Committee, I have been a leader in getting women involved in the political process and training our future stateswomen.

With no women holding higher office statewide, the Democratic Party needs to reaffirm its committment to women. At a grassroots level, I will reach out to women leaders and organizations throughout San Francisco to build long term relationships with the local Democatic Party. As a member of the County Central Committee, I will ensure that Democratic women running for office have the organizational support and fundraising resources of the Party.

- Board Member, San Francisco Women's Political Committee
- Member, National Women's Political Caucus SF
- Member, Democratic Women's Forum

Get Students & Young Democrats Involved in Politics

I am the candidate that will make it a priority to reach out to students and be a liaison for them within the local Democratic Party. I will lead the effort for Assembly District 12 to register more of the district's students. With the district including City College, San Francisco State, UCSF, and University of San Francisco, we have a tremendous opportunity to engage new members of the Democratic Party. I believe students can be a powerful force within this city if they feel that the Democratic Party speaks to them.

In part I have demonstrated my commitment to enfranchising youth through my involvement with the San Francisco Young Democrats and will use that network to register more student voters and link existing student Democratic clubs to the many Democratic activities within the city. As a County Committee member, I will institute a training and internship program for students to engage them in public service and offer them leadership opportunities within the Democratic Party. Having been involved in student politics when I was in college, serving as a student senator at the University of Wisconsin, I feel I have an understanding of the issues important to students. I will use that expertise to build lasting relationships with student organizations.

- Member, San Francisco Young Democrats

Improve the Democratic Party's Message:

As a writer by profession, I will work to improve the local Democratic Party's messaging to both new Democrats and longtime Party members. My writing, editing and research background will allow me to wage a strong communications campaign for the County Central Committee. As a first step, I will take a leadership role in getting new content created for their website, which is in dire need of improvement. If elected, I will create help the Party reconnect to current Democrats through a quarterly newsletter updating them on the accomplishments of the Party and listing ways they can get involved.
