The Platform

By Carlos Petroni

Candidate for Green Party County Council; County of San Francisco

This information is provided by the candidate
The points of my platform address the key issues for the San Francisco Green Party to grow and develop.
1. Work for a strong SF Green Party with clubs/branches in all 25 neighborhoods of the city.

2. Increase the work of the Green Party in communities of color and the labor movement.

3. Increase the representation in the Green Party of people of color, immigrants and workers.

4. Develop a plan to increase Green registration in the City from 3% to 10% and the number of active Greens organized in working groups from 100 to 1,000 in the next period of time.

5. Increase grassroots democracy inside the SF Green Party by helping to organize effective working groups, respecting diversity, enabling better communications within the party and from the party to registered members and avoiding the rule of cliques and gatekeepers that harmed the party in the past.

6. Encourage the Green Party to run candidates for all local offices. Fight for the Green Party to have a strong Presidential campaign in 2004.

7. Keep the Green Party independent of Democrats and Republicans, gaining from the crisis of the bipartisan political system.

8. Work to unite in the Green Party all forces of the left. From students to community groups, from antiwar to labor activists, the Green Party should become the electoral platform for all those who struggle for social justice, equality and democracy.

9. Fight for the SF Green Party to live up to its responsibility as the second political force in the City by assuming more of a leadership role in local issues, the antiwar movement and in organizing in communities of color and the labor movement.
