Friends, in 2002 I won a seat on the San Francisco Democratic County Central Committee because of the strong support I received from neighborhood democratic clubs and no small measure of luck. Because of the sheer number of candidates in AD 13, this year's election will be an uphill battle. I hope I'll be able to count on your help.

I believe that my central committee votes of NO on Care Not Cash, Aggressive Panhandling, and HOPE and YES on increasing the minimum wage, closing the Hunter's Point power plant, increasing police accountability, and levying a real estate transfer tax on expensive properties were all in line with the values of San Francisco's progressive Democrats.

If I am elected to a second term, I'll use my vote and my voice to unwaveringly support efforts that further social and economic justice and candidates who have the nerve to speak out for what's right.

In addition, I want to help: · Strengthen the committee's relationship with the city's democratic clubs · Connect more African American voters to progressive political activities · Promote a greater spirit of collegiality and collaboration on the central committee · Increase the visibility of the SF Democratic Party through public forums on timely issues and other events

I'm proud to be a member of the political party that has firmly stood for the empowerment of people of color and women. But many of the city's newer voters believe that their political interests are better served elsewhere.

In order to be relevant to these voters and retain our die-hard supporters, it's imperative that the Democratic Party move beyond criticizing other parties to show what we're made of. Assertive action on issues like affordable housing, equal pay, and living wage job creation, pedestrian safety, and quality public education demonstrate our resolve and boost our credibility.

These last two years have been quite an education for me, and I'd like to put what I've learned into building the party further. I hope you'll give me the chance by voting for me on March 2.
