Why vote Lisa Laqua for Judge?

Lisa Laqua is the most qualified candidate to be elected as our Superior Court Judge.
MOST QUALIFIED:
Ms. Laqua has an exceptional range of experience, which makes her THE candidate to support for Superior Court Judge. She was a Legislative Aide to the United States Senate Securities Subcommittee, where she drafted and proposed legislation, including measures to eliminate "junk bonds".
In addition, she was the Judicial Extern to the Presiding Justice at the Fourth District Court of Appeal, where she worked with and learned from some of the most brilliant minds in law.
She also worked with University of San Diego School of Law Professor Richard Wharton, helping him to edit the Civil Practice Manual, "California Civil Trial Book". This book takes an attorney from the beginning phases of litigation, through trial and Appeal.
In private practice, Ms. Laqua has tried numerous cases and written appeals in both Civil and Criminal matters. She has handled matters in the State and Federal Courts.
Ms. Laqua volunteered for the District Attorney's Office, where she prosecuted criminal cases as a Deputy District Attorney.
She also trained as a Child Advocate with "Voices for Children", where she gained knowledge about our Juvenile dependency system. She believes children have an absolute right to a safe environment and a solid education.
San Diego deserves the most qualified person for Judge, and that person is Lisa Laqua.

COMMUNITY FIRST:

Ms. Laqua puts our community FIRST and will continue to do so when she is elected Superior Court Judge. For example, she organized a Food Drive for the American Red Cross and St. Vincent de Paul for the recent fire victims. She acted as a "Community Outreach" person, responsible for securing contribution sites.
As our Community Leader, she gained support for this very successful endeavor from other San Diego leaders, including: The District Attorney's Offieces, the City Attorney's Offices, several Sheriff Department offices, the Del Mar Fairgrounds, News Stations 7, 8, and 10, the University of San Diego School of Law, and the San Diego, Carlsbad and Del Mar School Districts.
In addition, Ms. Laqua formed the "Small Business Legal Center", where she worked to foster small business growth in San Diego. She became involved with the Small Business Development Centers and the Small Business Administration. Her knowledge and commitment to our community has helped small business growth in San Diego.
Further, she has volunteered at the school where her lovely daughter attends classes.
Lisa Laqua believes San Diegan's possess an enormous amount of courage and strength, and is proud to put our community first.

SMART AND TOUGH:

Judge Rafael Arreola says: "Laqua is a tenatious advocate for the protection of individual rights."
Ms. Laqua earned an Accounting degree and admission to several academic, honorary organizations at Indiana University.
She recieved her law degree from the University of San Diego, School of Law. In addition, she achieved membership on the Law Review and was awarded the American Jurisprudence Award.
Lisa Laqua is a smart and tough competitor. She will bring these strengths to the position of Superior Court Judge to ensure justice prevails.
