The Democratic Central Committee consists of 23 elected members in charge of 78,000 registered county Democrats. Its membership extends across a region that takes over 90 minutes to drive from end to end. Its primary goals are to recruit Democratic candidates for local office, increase Democratic voter registration and turnout, and campaign for the elections of all Democrats in its jurisdiction. This organization cannot do all the work it is responsible for without the coordinated help of dedicated groups throughout the county. I will make your Democratic Party work better by:

1. Increasing the number of chartered Democratic clubs in the county, and improving their effectiveness. As co-founder of the Democratic Service Club, I helped recruit 300 volunteers in less than a year, and supported the largest grassroots campaign (against the Gray Davis recall) that this county has ever seen. We need to continue this work by adding clubs in the Santa Ynez valley, and giving better resources to all of our North County clubs.

2. Aligning our priorities with other progressive county organizations. We've already done great work on joint efforts with SBCAN, local unions, and PUEBLO. We can do a better job of coordinating with our environmental groups and our local teachers on issues of common interest.

3. Continuing to raise our media visibility. Better media attention and influence make it easier to recruit Democratic candidates and to raise the money that is vital for effective grassroots campaigning.
