The People's Superior Court Judge

By James M. Hall

Candidate for Superior Court Judge; County of Santa Barbara; Office 6

This information is provided by the candidate
Judges are servants of the people and must administer the law as legislated and codified. The people's judge is fair, impartial, efficient and tough on crime.
As a resident of Santa Barbara County for more than forty years, I have devoted myself to my family, my community and my profession in the justice system. Serving as the "People's Judge", your Santa Barbara Superior Court Judge, will be my ultimate public service. I consider it a judge's duty to preserve the dignity of the court and the trust of the people. I will act fairly and forcefully to dispense justice as bounded by the law in a manner that protects the constitutional rights of the accused and the victims of crime. Above all, I will do my best to secure the highest level of public safety.

I do not believe that judges have a right to make law from the bench. I believe judges should dispense justice under the law in quick and fair trials as the accused are entitled to. I also believe victims have rights too and are equally entitled to seeing that justice is done. I aspire to serve the people by being tough on crime while protecting the constitutional rights bestowed on all of us and as further enacted into law by the legislative bodies of our State and Country.

My vision for my legacy in the court is to leave it in a better state than when I entered as an elected judge...a court that is honored and respected by the great citizens of Santa Barbara County.

I will be honored to serve you as Superior Court Judge, County of Santa Barbara.
