Susan is a lawyer by profession who uses her skills to serve the public interest -- protecting the environment and standing up for the rights of women and children.

Susan came to the Monterey Peninsula a decade ago after the birth of her daughter Mary in search of a quieter, small town life. It was love at first sight when she viewed the magnificent Central Coast. Susan and Mary now live in a small, historic cottage by the bay in Pacific Grove. Susan's parents also reside in Pacific Grove.

After settling in Pacific Grove, Susan immersed herself in community life. Susan has served the City on its Planning Commission, as an active member and volunteer with the Chamber of Commerce, and currently as a member of the Pacific Grove City Council. Susan has run two successful small businesses in Pacific Grove, including publishing the town newspaper, The Beacon, for a number of years.

Susan represents the City on the Board of the Association of Bay Area Governments (AMBAG). An avid environmentalist, Susan is currently taking the lead in the effort to increase local control and input by AMBAG and other local concerns in the management of our National Marine Sanctuary. Susan is also the City Council representative to the Americans with Disabilities Compliance Committee. She has taken a strong leadership role in terms of the dignity and civil rights of the disabled, an ever-growing segment of our community.

A long-time environmental leader, Susan was appointed to the California State Fish and Game Department's Marine Life Protection Act Panel as the environmental stakeholder. Susan led the fight against the selling of water credits to the highest bidder in Pacific Grove and has been a strong advocate of the protection of the magnificent Pt. Pinos tide pools and the historic Lighthouse of the same name. In her law practice Susan has worked to protect the Elkhorn Slough and to prevent animal cruelty.
