43 year veteran of the criminal justice system. In 1960 I joined the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and served as a deputy sheriff for 7 years working Lennox and East Los Angeles Patrol Stations. In 1967 I transferred to the District Attorney's Bureau of Investigation as an investigator. In 1969, I was selected to be the bodyguard and administrative aide to Evelle J.Younger, District Attorney of Los Angeles County. I remained in that position for 11 years serving District Attorneys Joseph P. Busch and John Van de Kamp While working I went to law school and. became a deputy district attorney in 1980. In my 16 years as a deputy district attorney I was assigned to Branch & Area, Central Trials, Career Criminal Division and Environmental Crimes/OSHA Division. I retired in 1996 as the Assistant Head Deputy of the Environmental Crimes/OSHA Division. On December 4, 2000, I was appointed Special Assistant District Attorney. I was named to head the Belmont Task Force and investigate the 175 million dollar development of the Belmont Learning Complex. I recommended the case be presented to the Grand Jury. I have had over 80 jury trials including murder, arson, residential burglary, robbery, rape, child molestation, kidnapping for the purposes of robbery, robbery/murder special circumstances, sale of pcp, sale of cocaine, sale of heroin, illegal disposal of hazardous waste, labor code violations involving the death and serious injury of petroleum workers. I was the Grand Jury Advisor for the California District Attorney's Association Worker Safety Project in the prosecution of cases relating to the death of dairy workers. I I
