Questions & Answers

1. If it were entirely up to you, what measures would you take to address Los Angeles County's fiscal crisis?

The county has to prioritize spending in keys areas. Public safety has to come first. Currently, the county has cut the number of sheriffs available for policing Los Angeles's neighborhoods. Public Safety needs to come first. Second the county must eliminate wasteful and unnecessary spending. Whether is the increasing of top pay for administrators, sweetheart deals for campaign contributors or programs the are inefficient like the King/Drew Medical fiasco, the county can and must operate more like a business than a bureaucracy.

2. SB 921, Senator Kuehl's Single-Payer health care proposal currently in the Legislature, would provide universal health coverage for all Californians. What impact would universal single-payer health coverage have on Los Angeles County's health care provision system?

I will fight to save the and reform the service at King/Drew. We deserve quality care, not cuts.
