1. Why are you running for Superior Court Judge?

Answer from Richard W. Van Dusen:

Judge Van Dusen has seved this community for over 17 years. Well liked, hard working, smart, fair, and honest.

Answer from Daniel K. "Dan" Dik:

I want to be in a position to do something concrete about social ills I feel need to be corrected. These include the elimination of physical abuse of any kind, the elimination of graffiti which increases gang violence while decreasing resident's property values and quality of life, and trying to make our streets safer by dealing with those who make them unsafe; the intoxicated driver, the discourteous driver, and those who race or run from the police.

2. What are the personal qualities which best equip you to serve as a judge?

Answer from Richard W. Van Dusen:

Honesty and courage

Answer from Daniel K. "Dan" Dik:

A strong sense of fair play has been my life-long companion. I have served as a temporary judge in L.A. County for more than five years; thus I have practical experience on the bench. I have an excellent grasp of the laws of evidence and procedure, providing the practical tools a judge needs to use daily. I value courtesy, honesty, and efficiency which all make for a harmonious working environment, and a harmonious effective court.
