Economic development/Jobs

We must fast track the $2 billion already appropriated for development projects that will create 15,000 new jobs in the city. We also must ensure that we prepare people to obtain these jobs, especially youth and people of color, who too often miss out on opportunities for employment in jobs that provide living wages, benefits and career growth.

Homelessness

We need to help people living on the streets get the support they need around mental health, substance abuse and employment, and we must create more housing to get people get off the streets for good. Implementing Care Not Cash is the first step toward creating solutions, but it is not the only solution. I have 32 proposals, which will help address homelessness and will improve the quality of life for all San Franciscans.

Workforce housing

There are a lot of middle-income people who cannot afford to live in the city - teachers, fire fighters, police officers - which is why I introduced legislation at the Board of Supervisors calling for a Workforce Housing Initiative to help middle income individuals buy homes in the city.

I want to refocus the City on the issues most important to San Franciscans. I will work to overcome the political bickering that has prevented us from finding real solutions to our most pressing problems. In the current economic climate the City and the mayor must do more to create jobs and stimulate growth. We have already approved billions of dollars of bonds to improve and enhance San Francisco's infra-structure, as mayor, I will work to expedite these projects. This will create jobs and stimulate the economy.
