Questions & Answers

1. How would you implement your top priority?

Upon taking office I will begin the process to bring zoning under the township. We have only one Trustee in favor of this right now. Having me on the board will ensure that the residents of Green Township will have the second vote needed to implement this important part of our future. I would also implement certain county tools that will allow the township to protect our remaining ridges and hillsides from excessive development. While many residents have expressed concern with township zoning this concern can be tempered with resident involvement.

2. Numerous important issues including transportation, land use planning, housing and economic development for the Greater Hamilton County regions are being deliberated by OKI's Land Use Commission and Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission and Planning Partnership COMPASS; how engaged should local government be in these planning activities? If elected, how would you participate in these planning activities?

Our township need to be involved in all levels of planning activities. Both our Director of Economic Development and Public Works director will attend the appropriate meetings. As an elected township offical we must participate and share the cost of the planning process provided that cost is reasonable. The township must take control of its future. Allowing outside officals to make decisions for the residents of Green Township without township involvement is not in our residents best interest.

3. Ohio Department of Natural Resources in partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the National Recycling Coalition conducted a state-specific study and found recycling businesses in Ohio generated $650.6 million dollars in state government revenue. If elected how would you promote recycling and support recycling programs currently in place in your community to reduce solid waste generation?

Residents of Green Township currently use the recycling services of Rumpke. This is a great idea. It gives the residents the opportunity to help save our presious resources. I would favor the township locateing a recycling container at its administrative complex. This would accomplish two goals. First, it would give our residents another opportunity to recycle. Secondly, the township would benefit by receiving the monies that Rumpke currently recives for recycling. We could put this money to use in acquiring land for parks and open space.
