Norwood is a very unique and proud community. As a homeowner like you, I understand the importance of good city services and a strong thriving business community. One can not exist without the other. In the past two years, our nation's poor economy made its way to Norwood. This present Council which I serve had to make tough decisions cutting and eliminating positions and services without any input from the present administration in order to pass a balanced budget by the required deadline. Some of the cuts were not popular but had to be done. As a member of the Finance and Claims Committee, I worked hard to put a budget together that would ensure the same level of city services we have become accustomed to. As Chairperson of Community Development and Small Business Committee, I recognized the importance of redeveloping areas of Norwood such as Cornerstone at Smith and Williams, the former Contractors Warehouse site and the American Laundry Site in order to increase our city revenue. In the past 20 months, your committee has negotiated over $250 million dollars worth of NEW developments and continues to negotiate more with the new proposed heart hospital at the former Globe Werneike site. Not only do I support business in Norwood, but I put my money where my mouth is by investing my family's life savings in a new restaurant in an area of Norwood that has been neglected for many years. Although my wife Cheryl and two children Johnathan and Elisa first questioned my sanity, they like I believe in this city and hope that our investment will not only be successful but will also encourage additional redevelopment in the area.

I have worked hard and have put our city's needs first. I have worked together with department heads to address the concerns and questions of all residents, not just a select few. I want to continue leading our community in a positive direction that will leave a long lasting legacy.
