The students, our children, deserve the best quality of education.

By Richard "Ric" Singh

Candidate for Board Member; Orchard School District; 2 Year Short Term

This information is provided by the candidate
I have been a resident of this community for approximately 5 years. I have three wonderful children who attend Orchard School (OS). They are in the 2nd, 3rd & 6th grades.

For the last year, I have served the Orchard School District (OSD) as a Governing Board Member and contributed to the resurrection of the school district in a positive and fiscally responsible manner. It is my desire and commitment to provide each student whom attends Orchard School the best education possible. The students, our children, deserve the best.

My accomplishments as a Board Member include:

1)Guiding the district in the adoption of new Science, Math & language Arts textbooks to meet new sate standards. 2)Serving on the committee to select a new & proactive Principal. 3)Increasing Test Scores & Analysis of Test Data. 4)Ensuring a quality education for all OSD children. 5)Reducing the deficit spending. 6)Reducing the infringements on the general fund.

I have served the community by being an activate parent and participating on the Orchard School Site Committee which helps sets the direction for various programs designed to enrich our students. I have also served on the Budget Advisory committee which was created to help provide clear direction when the OSD was approximately $2 million over budget. I am knowledgeable of the current crisis affecting our schools and am able to offer credible solutions. My service also includes being a former member of Orchard School Security and Safety committee.

We have a wonderful community and school. With your help, I plan to continue providing leadership and direction to raise the quality of instruction for our children.

My priorities if re-elected are too: 1) Improve the Quality of Education 2) Expand the facilities; build a gymnasium, Track Field, Baseball Field, Expand the Play Area. 3) Maintain Fiscally Responsibility. 4) Find Funding to Bring Back Programs which have been cut or dramatically reduced i.e. Music, Art, Counseling, Homework Club etc.

I would appreciate your vote to be your voice for the position of Governing Board Member, OSD. I represent Leadership, Vision and Accountability.

Thank you
