Questions Recently Asked Of The Candidate - #3

By Nancy E. Mc Caa

Candidate for Board Member; Sunnyvale School District

This information is provided by the candidate
In the event of a conflict between your views and those of a majority of your constituents, how would you come to a decision? (What factors do you take into account when making a decision regarding a controversial issue?)
In all walks of life I believe in being prepared and doing research beforehand, whether it is making a grocery list, preparing for a vacation, or implementing important policies that affect others.

I believe in an open-door policy and would encourage feedback from my constituents. I would hold open Town Hall meetings for the public to be heard. I would present my views and listen to my constituents then reflect on and review all new materials and issues raised during this process, and then vote my conscience.

As the sixth child in a family with nine children, equity, fairness, and doing-the-right-thing, are cornerstones of my beliefs and values. I feel that with the approach I have described, I will have reached the right decision.
