Proven Leadership for Sunnyvale

Otto Lee is a proven leader in government, business, and the community. As a Sunnyvale Planning Commissioner and patent attorney, he is the most qualified candidate in Seat 5 to lead Sunnyvale to a future as great as its past.

Through his service in Sunnyvale government, Otto has gained a first-hand knowledge of the city. He has also developed a full understanding of the important decisions that face Sunnyvale as it prepares for its future.

The city of Sunnyvale will deal with many challenges in the coming years. It must balance its budget and maintain quality city services during difficult economic times. It must decide how it wants to develop as a community. As an established community leader, Otto Lee is the candidate for Seat 5 who can provide the experienced leadership and consensus building that the city needs as it faces these challenges.

Otto will bring a broad range of life experiences and knowledge to the Sunnyvale city council. He has served his country as a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve; he has served his community as a Sunnyvale planning commissioner; and, he has shown leadership in the business community by founding a high-tech law practice.

During his tenure in the city government of Sunnyvale, Otto has developed the leadership skills that Sunnyvale needs. He was elected Chair of the planning commission in 2000. He graduated from Leadership Sunnyvale in 2002. These experiences taught Otto how to build consensus so that Sunnyvale can grow strong and united.

The city of Sunnyvale will also benefit from Otto's professional experience as a business manager and patent attorney. After graduating from Hastings School of Law, Otto founded the Intellectual Property Law Group in San Jose. He is currently the managing attorney of the firm. This experience of managing a high-tech law practice has taught Otto how to lead a successful business in Silicon Valley.

As a patent attorney, Otto is admitted to practice before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, the U.S. Court of International Trade, and U.S. Federal District Courts in California. His high-tech legal work includes taking on patent cases in fields such as security, biotechnology, and software.

Otto has also been a leader in the service of his country. As an officer in the U.S. Naval Reserve, Otto was recently called up to active duty in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He returned home in June. It is Otto's hope that all our troops can come home soon.

Otto's campaign for city council has the support of a wide range of community leaders and organizations. He has been endorsed by six Sunnyvale City Council members, including Councilmember Manuel Valerio (the incumbent for Seat 5), Mayor Julia Miller, and Councilmembers Fred Fowler, Pat Vorreiter, and John Howe. Four State Assemblymembers, including Joe Simitian, Rebecca Cohn, Manny Diaz and Sally Lieber, have also endorsed his candidacy. In addition, California State Controller Steve Westly and Congressman Mike Honda have endorsed him. Finally, the Sierra Club - Loma Prieta Chapter, the Tri-County Apartment Association, the Sunnyvale Employees Association, and the South Bay AFL-CIO Labor Council Committee on Political Education (COPE) have endorsed Otto.

Otto is dedicated to serving the city Sunnyvale. He would be grateful to have your support. Please remember to vote on November 4th.
