As a councilmember, I pledge to work hard to build consensus on issues and, in the process, ensure that your voice is heard.

My vision of Sunnyvale is "Community and Commerce," residents and business working together to make Sunnyvale the best city to live, work, and shop.

I am committed to:

1) Revitalize downtown - A revitalized downtown is key to the city increasing revenue without raising taxes. We need to quickly move forward to get the shopping mall redeveloped. We need to support local business.

2) Avoid new taxes - We need to streamline city government to preserve city services and avoid tax increases. We need to review the city budget with the right analytical tools to reduce costs until tax revenues recover,

3) Police and Fire Services - Police and fire services must be supported to maintain our nationally recognized low crime rate,

4) Communication - We need to improve communication between residents, business and the city. There needs to be better ways to keep everyone informed of events in the city,

5) Neighborhoods - We need to create more opportunities to bring neighborhoods together,

6) Environment - We need to promote a healthy environment including steps to preserve open space and reduce pollution, and

7) Education - I support high quality education. I have volunteered with Junior Achievement. My wife and I have started a scholarship program through a local service club for a deserving Sunnyvale high school senior.

Remember my vision of "Community and Commerce," residents and business working together to make Sunnyvale the best city to live, work, and shop.

I ask for your vote on November 4.
