Smart Voter Official Statement for Scott Burns

Candidate for
City Council Member; City of Santa Barbara

This is a copy of information submitted to elections officials by the candidate

Occupation: Local Businessman

Education and Qualification:

The first rule in choosing elected officials is to consider what they do, not what they say. Santa Barbara is facing a financial crisis and we must have leaders who are fiscally competent and have experience in dealing with budgets.

FISCAL WATCHDOG

The City's resources are limited and I will carefully evaluate all City expenditures and be a fiscal watchdog. As the former owner of Murphy Electric, I have the experience, fiscal responsibility and skills necessary to make the difficult decisions that lie ahead.

SUSTAINING OUR QUALITY OF LIFE

I have lived here since 1977. I will work to maintain the quality of life in Santa Barbara. Regional planning and retaining local jobs are two of my highest priorities.

PRESERVING OUR RESOURCES

Some of Santa Barbara's greatest blessings are our safe streets and natural beauty. It is imperative that we maintain these assets. They will always be a priority in my decision making. As your representative I will WORK HARD and bring COMMON SENSE and BALANCE in the Council. I will listen to your concerns, study the facts and make thoughtful decisions to protect Santa Barbara now and in the future.
