Common Sense
I am all for saving endangered critters. However, let's use our head. Currently the County is pushing the Multi Species Habitat County Plan for over 130 endangered critters. Only 30-40 some odd are actually on the Federal list. The MSHCP goes overboard to protect what the county feels might end up on the species list in the future. The way the plan is written you don't even have to have species on your property. Your land has to be in the criteria area and that's all. The plan proposes to set aside over 10,000 acres in Lake Elsinore and only 500ac. in Temecula and 1000ac. (or so) in Murrieta. This doesn't seem balanced to me. I support private property rights! If you own property I support your rights. If you want to sell it to the county for habitat, fine. If not, I don't feel the county has the right to "take" it. They will pay dollars for it, but once it is listed as habitat it is worthless. I consider that a "take."
