THESE ARE THE REASONS TO ELECT GEORGE SALERNO TO TIBURON TOWN COUNCIL

He believes the key issues facing the Tiburon Community are:

Emergency preparedness for all citizens is deficient without Tiburon's participation in the county wide emergency radio network, MERA.

  • The Marin Emergency Radio Authority (MERA) is key to linking Tiburon Police, and emergency services, to other county wide emergency services.
  • Implementation demands planning due diligence, community education, leadership and common sense.
  • Without it, we jeopardize citizens' lives should there be a natural or man-made disaster.

Tiburon's Open Space must be preserved and protected.

  • Private property development should not be allowed to encroach on this important public asset.
  • Trails and access paths must be maintained for the benefit of the public.
  • The Town should add to the inventory, whenever and wherever possible.

Fiscal planning and management must be long range, and innovative.

  • Public services must not be reduced in any major way below their current levels; they should be enhanced.
  • The Town needs to provide an environment where local business can prosper. Healthy, vibrant businesses will generate greater revenues for the Town.
  • Town leaders should talk with neighboring municipalities about consolidating services or departments. We need to benefit from economies of scale wherever possible.

Every effort must be made to STOP litigation of issues.

  • Avoid lawsuits by applying the rules consistently and with common sense.
  • Use dialogue, negotiation, mediation or even special masters before resorting to the courts.
  • Spend our tax dollars on infrastructure, roads and utilities, not on legal fees.

Let's listen and respond to residents and homeowners.

  • When citizens bring issues to the Town officials, they want answers and results.
  • They want property and traffic problems addressed.
  • They want the General Plan applied consistently and fairly.

The youth of our community need to be better served.

It is time to join hands with educators, businesses, community associations and young people themselves to determine how best to serve the needs of our youth. Let's develop a vision for all of our youth and services that set a standard for other communities to follow.
