Candidate for
Board Member; Ross Valley School District

This information is provided by the candidate

Dear Ross Valley Community Members,

As a parent in the Ross Valley School District I know first hand how parents, teachers and the community, working together, can make a difference. We have a great District, one that attracts people to our schools and our community. I plan to keep it that way.

As Brookside School Parent Club President, I oversaw all parent fundraising and volunteers, attended joint parent/school meetings, and was involved at the inception of the YES organization. I also convinced the School Board to bring in an additional crossing guard in our district to help ensure the safety of not only Brookside, but also White Hill and Drake, kids. As co-chair, I helped double the size and profits of Brookside School's main fundraiser, the Octoberfest.

As a school board member, I would involve parents and teachers, those closest to our children, in the decision process. Partnerships and communication are essential. The ability to listen and hear all of the issues that are important to teachers, administrators, and parents, and then find a common ground, are attributes I would bring to this position.

A key issue that we face in today's budget world is fiscal responsibility with continued quality education. I want to make sure that budget issues don't affect our kids or our classrooms.

Based upon my years of experience with the Ross Valley School District and my financial background, I hope to bring to the Board a fiscally responsible attitude, which takes into account teachers, parents, and most of all, our children. Every decision I make will be answered by one simple question, "Is this the best we can do for our students and our community?"

Thank you.
