Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Tom J. Spencer

Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Santa Rita Union School District

This information is provided by the candidate

Santa Rita Board Members should be easily approachable and responsive to the school community. Visibility at school functions also ensures that they remain informed of current events at each school site and are aware of potential concerns. Parental issues, student needs, and community expectations should be addressed before a crisis can occur. The public is a valuable rsource - many of our parents have a wealth of insightful ideas and could be a positive influence in the development of our schools.

In addition, Board Members should be sensitive to the concerns and opinions of teachers and classified staff at each school site. No one knows the needs of the students at school better than the people who spend all day teaching and helping them. If the teachers and support staff have a stronger voice within the school community, the students can only benefit.
