Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Paul Bong-Soo Kahng, Ph.D.

Governing Board Member; ABC Unified School District

Paul Kahng is committed to providing the best education for our community. He has been an educator for more than 40 years; mentor to students and teachers; and a scholastic and community leader. He is committed to:

  • Neighborhood Office Hours-- Paul will be available at the convenience of parents and students to hear more about each community member's issues and concerns.

  • Parental Involvement-- Paul will work closely with the PTA to increase participation by parents at each school. If necessary, he will request having joint PTA meetings.

  • Accountability-- Paul plans to ensure that every penny of our ABC schools and school bonds will be made accountable for improving both certified and classified staff.

  • More Diversified After-school Programs-- Paul will implement higher and more diversified after-school programs for all children and for all schools in the ABC School District. These programs will include intervention for below grade level students and advanced education for every child for a rounded education. Higher level students can mentor those needing assistance so that all students will benefit. Community credit can be earned for mentoring other students.

  • Senior Citizen Education Program-- Paul will provide better diversified senior citizen programs in adult school.

  • Disabled Students-- Paul will create better learning program for the disabled personnel in magnet schools.

  • ABC School Foundation-- Paul will implement a plan for the ABC School Foundation through, which he will work with the local business leaders to raise funds and integrate more resources.

  • Upgrading Higher Performance Schools-- Paul wants to raise the national ranking of our schools and to assure that some reach the top 100 schools in the nation.
