Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Terri Elaine Cope Goff

Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Palmdale Elementary School District

This information is provided by the candidate

As an educator and parent I want to make sure that all children in the Palmdale School District can receive a top quality education. My goals as school board member are to prioritize children, restore confidence and competence.

I am committed in serving the children of our school district. They are our first priority. I will seek to lower class sizes by restoring class size reduction and by building new schools. Our children deserve the highest quality education possible. I support the No Child Left Behind Act.

I will promote teamwork and trust between parents, administration and teachers.

I believe that parent participation is a crucial component in a child's education. At home is where a child's first lessons are learned and at school is where they are practices, refined, and expanded. Having parental support allows all of us to be united on our goal which is the proper education of our children.

You should be able to trust that the school board, administration, and teachers are working their hardest for your children. Your input matters and as a parent and school board member I will listen to you.

Teachers should be properly supported by the school district so they can do their job. As a teacher I know that having the support of school board and administration helps me do my job by being able to focus on teaching your children.

We need to have the best teachers so that our children succeed. They need to be taught by highly qualified and credentialed teachers.

I will work to make sure that the district meets the teacher quality requirements of the No Child Left Behind Act. They have the right to be taught by a person who has finished a college teaching program and who has proven their competency. Our children deserve not to be used as guinea pigs for someone else's education.

As a long time Palmdale resident, Palmdale School District alumnus, educator, and as a parent, it is my highest priority that our schools succeed.
