Perspective and Plan for Manhattan Beach Schools

I have been both a student and a teacher in the Manhattan Beach Unified School District. I know our wonderful schools from my own experience.

I taught Government, U.S. History and Geography in the Manhattan Beach Unified School District for the past three years, after a successful career in law.

I graduated from Robinson, Center Middle School and Mira Costa. My family has been part of this community since before I could walk, and my parents were actively involved in my education.

As a teacher, I encourage my students' parents to support at home what I teach in the classroom.

As a board member, I will work hard to ensure that parents remain a central part of the education process.

To safeguard the tradition of excellence in our schools, I will advocate for the following:

• Protect class size reductions so that our teachers can have more opportunities for one-on-one instruction with students.

• Work with parents to promote the value of education with their children.

• Protect the wonderful enrichment programs for students that my fellow students and I so profoundly benefited from.

• Bring the perspective of teachers to the school board decisions that impact the classroom

• Respect the community by holding bi-monthly town hall forums to address pressing concerns of parents, residents, employees and students.
