Arguments For Measure B
Most of you know that California is in dire financial trouble and has proposed cuts in all services throughout the state. Our schools are feeling these cuts and the Castaic Union School District has been reducing spending wherever possible. But it's not enough. In order to continue the quality education our students deserve, we are asking for your help. We are proposing this parcel tax so we can maintain our quality educational programs and materials, avoid increased class sizes, maintain and update computers and computer instruction in the classroom, and continue art and music programs.

The tax would be for four years only and be assessed to each parcel owner at the rate of $48 per year. We ask for your help for four years as we think the state will need this length of time to regain fiscal footing. Property owners 65 and older would be exempt from this tax.

We ask for your support and he1p so we can maintain programs essential to the learning of our children. Funds raised from this parcel tax cannot be used for any purpose other than these programs I have mentioned. Tax moneys cannot be used for salary increases, school facilities. transportation. or anything else except to support these programs beneficial to our children. Please vote YES on MEASURE B.
