Mayo urges voting and volunteering
Why should people vote for me for MCSD?

I've given this considerable thought. Should I say it is because I care about the future of the community, that I'm a dedicated hard worker or that I'll do a good job? Maybe I should say all that. But everyone running can say that, too.

So, my answer is you should vote for me if you choose, for the same reason you'd vote for any of the other candidates. I think McKinleyville is very lucky to have such a great group of committed people running for the Board position on the MCSD. The community just can't lose.

If you want to do something for me that's just as important as voting and, in my opinion, our real civic strength, get involved in Little League, volunteer at Azalea Hall, be a Big Brother or Sister, lead a Cub Scout or Blue Bird group. We need docents at Clam Beach, get on the barbecue crew at Pony Express, go with Bill and pick up food for the Church, join the McKinleyville Rodeo Association and help a kid learn how to ride a horse, join SCOP, help your neighbor fix his fence, take a kid to the trap club or Beau pre for golf or hunting or fishing, buy a local Sheriff's deputy a cup of coffee even if he did just chew you out for no tail lights, volunteer at the library or grammar school, help the stage crew at the next High School play or, like Jim and Margie, just wave at folks passing on the street. Voting for me is a paltry second compared to any of these. Thank You.
