Issues

By Tom Bramell

Candidate for Council Member; City of Livermore

This information is provided by the candidate
Here are a few of the serious issues I will work towards bringing to fruition:

Promote a balanced housing plan

  • I will support a strategic general plan that provides housing for our labor force to live where they work. A plan that creates permanent open space, while balancing housing opportunities for our citizens.

Make our downtown revitalization a reality
  • Building a beautiful downtown means understanding the infrastructure and working with the community and business to identify the impacts of any proposed plan for the downtown. I will support a sound strategic plan that provides a mix of business and housing and identifies the necessary infrastructure for public services such as water, sewer, parks, schools, police and fire.

Bring BART to Livermore
  • BART belongs down the I-580 median with stations at Isabel and Greenville Road. The Livermore BART project has a better chance of success for Federal funds than any other alternative, and I will work hard to promote its success. We need leadership to make BART a reality for Livermore!

Education
  • Livermore schools receive less money per student than the State average. Its a thirty year old formula. Our children deserve the best. I will continue to lobby our legislators to equalize school finances to close the funding gap!

Performing Arts Center
  • A Performing Arts Center will make Livermore a destination place. I will support a performing arts center but only with a fiscally sound business plan relevant to today's market trends and one that identifies long term private funding.
