Candidate for
Council Member; Proposed City of Hacienda Heights

Shan Lee, with his wife Sanne and their two children Jason and Jessica, has lived in Hacienda Heights since 1989 and in East San Gabriel Valley since 1983. Jason and Jessica both attended the public schools in the Hacienda Heights since kindergarten. Jason graduated from Wilson High School and is currently a sophomore at Dartmouth College. Jessica is a junior attending Wilson High School . She recently received first place award in a statewide competition in historical paper of History Day in California. She will be representing California to compete in National History Day in June.

Shan, an engineer by training, has broad background and experiences in technology, finance, real estate and government sectors.

He currently is the Executive Vice President of DAUM Commercial Real Estate Services in the City of Industry branch that he joined in 1989. Daum Commercial Real Estate, established in 1904, is a 100 years old firm in Los Angeles, a pioneer in the development of the industrial sector of Los Angeles at the turn of the last century. This career gives him extensive experiences in the real estate development issues and wide contacts with both businesses and public sectors.

He worked briefly in the financial industry as a Series 7 licensee (stock broker). This experience provided him with expertise in the various investment vehicles and financial products available to both private and public sectors.

Prior to changing career, Shan had worked for Citibank in Santa Monica and Magnavox (part of Philips) in Torrance as a senior design and system engineer. This work earned him several patents and a solid knowledge how to solve complex problems and how to leverage technology to improve productivity and to deliver cost effective services.

Shan also completed a two-year political stint (1990-92) as a field representative for the office of the 60th Assembly District, which covered Hacienda Heights, Rowland Heights, Walnut, Diamond Bar, West Covina, City of Industry and other communities. He was the first Asian representative in the district and there was no Asian elected official in the entire East San Gabriel Valley at the time. He also served on the Central Committee of the 57th Assembly District (1992-1994).

Shan is a Vice President of the Hacienda Heights Area Chinese Association and a member of the Citizens for Cityhood Committee. He is also a member of the Hacienda Heights Kiwanis Club.
