JOYCE BURRELL GARCIA brings a passion to serve and the know-how to represent diverse community college communities. This candidate has resided in greater Los Angeles since 1970. She is the product of Los Angeles Community College and went on to complete education at the graduate level. Upon graduation, Joyce served within the South Central Community --- Charles Drew Postgraduate Medical School, the Watts Health Foundation and the Fanon Research and Development Center. Joyce also served at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. This candidate is equally conversant with the private sector --- Coca-Cola Enterprises, McDonald's Corporation. She is connected to community life and brings current perspective to issues within education.

PLATFORM:

1. To advocate/lobby for continued funding through the Legislative Action Committee.

2. Increase partnerships with private sector business to expand internship opportunities.

3. Increase student enrollment and retention of under- served populations.
