WHERE DOES PETER YAO STAND ON THE ISSUES?
Freeway Noise · Peter grew up 4 blocks from the old 10 Freeway. He lives 4 blocks from the new 210 Freeway. He understands the problem. · There are modifiers; some are costly; all must be considered. · Peter will do everything possible to mitigate this nuisance for both north and south Claremont.

State Budget Crisis · Peter brings more than 20 years of corporate financial management experience to the Council. · He supports plans to cut back on city expenses without harming essential services such as police, senior programs, and low-income subsidies. · City's service reductions will be entirely based on citizens' priority

Water Rates · Our current relationship with Southern California Water is unacceptable. · The City must aggressively act on this issue and demand a rate rollback. · We must become more active conservers of water.

Hillside Protection · As a mountain biker, Peter values open space · The City should support the Wildlands Conservancy approach. · Peter supports a bond issue to protect the remaining hillside.

Village Expansion · The City should improve the infrastructure and stop there. · The unnatural restriction of Indian Hill traffic should be reversed. · Peter supports the possibility of Packing House preservation.

Affordable Housing · It fosters a more diverse community. · The city must excel in this area. · Subsidies are investments in Claremont's future.

Town/Colleges Relationship · The Colleges are Claremont's most valued assets. · The Village should and can become more attractive to students. · Peter will help create a town/gown task force to deal directly with this issue.
