The Tenth District will present an exciting opportunity and challenge in my career. I am proud of my legislative record in the Assembly. I drafted cutting edge bills in energy that in some instances became models for the nation. I closed loopholes in the sex offender registration process to protect our children. I secured funding for parks and community centers to keep our young people out of gangs, and provided funds for the County of Los Angeles to rebuild its outdated juvenile hall. I also fought for senior citizens to insure that doctors treating them were experienced in treating this special needs population.

One of the early political assignments in my career was in the Tenth Council District. Since that time I have served in posts in state, regional and federal government in addition to being elected to the California State Legislature. I look forward to bringing all my experience back home to Los Angeles to continue to serve the residents of my community.
