Prior to being elected the city budgeted for approximately 35 police officers and hired around 28 people. With the assistance of Dave Truax and our Police Chief I pushed to hire the additional cops and we now have 33 police officers on duty. For 10 years the council talked about public safety but never pushed it. I worked to get additional cops hired.

As a member of the Fire Committee I knew that we had a deficit in Paramedic Service and fought to have our fire engines upgraded to paramedic assessment engines by having a paramedic replace an emt on the fire engines. Now we not only have a great fire department but an even better emergency medical response team.

As an usher at Sacred Heart I believe in Family and Community Values. I volunteer countless hours to help Covina residents. Though I know we need to redevelop our downtown district I opposed the wholesale destruction of Civic Center Park for high priced townhomes to be built inhibiting access to our police station.

I implemented a monthly financial report to management track expenditures and prevent overspending. Additionally I supported streamlining certain procedures to cut down on overhead and improve financing operations. Changing financial auditors and implementing a long overdue Management Audit were major cornerstones of bringing fiscal accountability to Covina.
