Ballot Statement

By Victor A. Manalo

Candidate for Council Member; City of Artesia

This information is provided by the candidate
VICTOR MANALO Occupation: Commissioner/University Professor

Since buying our home in Artesia over 10 years ago, my family has established solid roots here. My wife Monica and I were married 11 years ago at Holy Family Catholic Church and we have two beautiful daughters, Amanda and Isabel.

I am well-qualified to serve as your City Councilmember. I have a Ph.D. in Social Work from USC and am an Assistant Professor at California State University, Los Angeles. Currently, I chair the Artesia Planning Commission.

As Artesians, we face some serious challenges. We have problems with graffiti, street repair, and traffic. As your Councilmemeber, I will be responsive to your concerns.

In addition, the State of California is facing a $34 billion budget crisis. In order to protect cuts in senior services, recreation, and public safety, I will work with State Senator Betty Karnette, the Governor's Office, and the Legislature to ensure that Artesia's budget is not disproportionately affected.

As a Member of the City Council, I will ensure that city government is responsive to all Artesians by being accessible and approachable. On Tuesday, March 4, I respectfully ask for your vote.
