Traffic Congestion/Overdevelopment: These are problems that should not be tolerated in Calabasas. Traffic and congestion have become unacceptably worse. I will oppose overdevelopment and be a major catalyst for much better traffic management and efforts to stop reckless driving in our neighborhoods. Among several ideas I will propose: Initiate efforts to restore school bus service to our children so we can significantly reduce the number of pick up and drop off traffic that occurs at the beginning and end of each day when parents drive their children to and from school. Other measures to create real incentives for ride sharing must also be explored.

I am a daily runner on the streets and trails throughout Calabasas. I will preserve our open space and fight hard to acquire more.

Having successfully prosecuted major corporate polluters and stopped oil companies from contaminating drinking water in the Cities of Santa Monica and Morro Bay, I will use my experience to fight more effectively to stop the development of Ahmanson Ranch and the congestion it would bring. I have considerable experience dealing with the emerging chemical known as perchlorate and will use this experience to address the discovery of perchlorate in the water wells in and around Ahmanson Ranch and potential strategies for challenging the EIR on this and other issues.

Children and Senior citizens: My wife Susan and I have a young son and excellence in education and student safety is a priority. I will be a fierce advocate to reduce overcrowding in schools, support after school programs and concentrate on school safety, teen sobriety and the elimination of reckless driving.

I will be an avid supporter of issues important to seniors such as helping those qualified obtain exemption of the utility tax and will also seek to expand eligibility to include more seniors. I will work hard to improve the availability and schedule of the City trolleys so that seniors can take advantage of this means of transportation, which they so often rely on.

Police and Fire: I will be vigilant and uncompromising in overseeing efforts to keep Calabasas very low in crime and fast in emergency response times.
