Dear Supporter:

Twenty years ago, the late Honorable Mayor Tom Bradley gave a young man 5 minutes of his personal time. In those 5 minutes, he managed to shape a clear and solid image of what a community leader is, and should always aspire to be. That young man was me, ROBERT COLE, a candidate for City Council, Eighth District. The two principles Mayor Bradley impressed upon me were selflessness and dedication to assuming a leadership role in my community. These principles have carried me from the days of my youth where I began my leadership efforts as student body president of Crenshaw High School, to serving in numerous leadership positions at both the state and federal levels, to finally my pursuit of the City Council seat for the Eighth District.

In my first 100 days in office, I plan to advocate:

For community safety:
- Deter crime in our community by requesting an increase in police patrol in needed areas
-Increase the number of block clubs and neighborhood watch organizations by providing additional funding and support from my staff

For our community schools:
-Secure the necessary funding to increase community after-school programs
-Build a stronger relationship with the Los Angeles Unified School District to structure mentor programs and to narrow the digital divide

For community pride and spirit:
-Monitor street and road conditions on a regular basis for improvement
-Host regular town hall meetings to discuss and address concerns and issues before we read about them in the newspaper or hear them on the news

For community development:
-Push to improve the response time for needed repairs and community services
-Conduct regular community clean-up campaigns to remove graffiti and displaced trash

For results in the community:
-Support neighborhood councils by assigning a staff member to work them, and setting aside additional funds for support
-Meet with block club captains and presidents of homeowner associations for recommendation actions and needed services

The Eighth District needs someone homegrown with firsthand experience of the issues we face as a community everyday and City Hall needs a team player. As your city councilman, I am looking forward to working with fourteen other city council members for the common cause of representing a district that I have lived in for over 20 years. The Eighth District should have the right person, running for the right reason, with an agenda to do the right thing. I am that person. Please support me ROBERT COLE for City Council!

Right Person! Right Reason! Right Plan!
