Questions & Answers

1. How would you implement your top priority?

I will apply the law honestly, without wavering. A judge must not "legislate from the bench" by substituting personal policy preferences for choices made by the people through their legislators and constitutions. In my work on legal reform in emerging democracies, and during my tenure at the Justice Department and the White House, I advocated faithful adherence to the rule of law. It is essential that our community now renew its pledge to that goal.
