My husband Darrel and I have been married for 27 years. We have four children -- Bill, Mike, Tiffany, and Kory.

I grew up in Long Beach. After attending public school, I obtained a Teaching Credential there. Soon after, my husband and I moved to San Deigo, where I earned a Masters Degree from San Diego State University. When I started teaching Second Language Learners, I returned to SDSU and received a Language Development Specialist Credential.

My political experience is that of a successful grass-roots organizer. I fought and won a battle for citizen control when it comes changes in the General Plan that effect residential property in my home town of Escondido. I am also on the front lines in the battle over the so-called Peaker Plants here. City Council OK'd the use of 30 year old diesel engines! These outdated pollution monstrosities are unacceptable. They produce higher NOx emissions than the Air Quality Control Board and the General Plan allow. I will continue to fight for high quality air standards.

I teach middle school. English is not the first language of my students, but I have great success in preparing them for high school.
