JEANNE-MARIE ROSENMEIER was born in Chicago, and attended public schools there and in Seattle and southern California. She earned a B. A. in mathematics (cum laude) from Pomona College in 1973, then went on to the University of Chicago, where she received an MBA in 1975.

She worked on her first political campaign at age 16. In college, she was involved in a successful campaign to revise the campus plan to reduce cross-campus auto trafic. An active feminist, she was an ardent advocate of the Equal Rights Amendment. She was a founding member and first president of the DuPage County, Illinois, Women's Political Caucus, and national treasurer of Housewives for ERA. After a move to Virginia, she helped organize a local peace group.

After nearly a decade as a financial and budget analyst in industry, Jeanne-Marie shifted gears and in 1988 earned a credential as a certified public accountant. Three years later, she founded her own accounting firm.

Jeanne-Marie and her ex-husband have shared custody of their three children, Doug, Kenn, and Sandy for 17 years. She serves on the Contra Costa County Council. and believes in the Ten Key Values as guidelines for both public and private behavior.
