Successfully fought for creation of two health care charities (the California Endowment and the California Heathcare Foundation) with over $4 billion in assets

Strengthened patients' rights, including establishment of an 800 number to respond to complaints against HMOs

Sponsored a series of initiatives to make it easier for small businesses to raise growth capital
