By Paul Marsden

Candidate for United States Representative; District 47

On September 11, 2001, the American people were attacked. Thousands of Americans lost their lives. The nation mourned and continues to mourn those lost in the attacks.

On December 7, 2001, the United States Congress added yet another page to a dark chapter of American history.

It was the 60th anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Our military was deployed in response to the terrorist attacks. Thousands of Americans faced the approaching holiday season after losing their loved ones. Many thousands more faced an uncertain future after losing their jobs in an ailing economy.

At approximately 10:00PM, as many Americans prepared to go to bed, the Republicans and Democrats in the United States Congress -- some of whom toured the destruction at the World Trade Center site just weeks earlier -- gave themselves a $4,900 pay raise.

Simply stated, our campaign is challenging more than the incumbent in the 47th Congressional District. Our campaign is challenging the entire United States Congress.
