Tim Escobar grew up in the district living in Compton, spending his school years in Whittier. He attended colleges in Cerritos and Fullerton and completed his Bachelors of Science degree in Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Prescott, AZ.

He joined the Army and became a Warrant Officer Aviator at the age of 19. After his Honorable Discharge he has served as Chief Warrant Officer 3 and a member of 1/18 US Cavalry until accepting a direct commission as a 2nd Lieutenant. His current duty assignment is the Assistant S-3 Officer for the 1/140 GSAB. Tim has served for the past 16 years as both an attack and air assault pilot in the Army National Guard.

As a civilian, Tim started his career in the Aerospace Industry working for McDonnell Douglas Astronautics and Aircraft companies. During this time he was a member of the UAW and IAM labor unions. After adjusting from a "force restructuring," he made a major career change. He currently manages investments and serves as a Senior Financial Advisor and Assistant Vice President for the nation's largest investment firm.

Escobar's concern for children and quality education led him to be involved in various volunteer programs, along with the anti-drug awareness program within the Norwalk-La Mirada School District and the El Rancho School District.

He has served as the President of the La Mirada Chamber of Commerce and continues to serve on the Board of Directors. Currently as the VP of The Governmental Affairs Committee he keeps a watchful eye on major legislation to protect the business environment and labor.

Tim Escobar lives in La Mirada with his wife of 13 years, Debbie and their four children. He is running for Congress in the reapportioned 39th district which will include the communities of West and South Whittier, La Mirada, Cerritos, Artesia, Hawaiian Gardens, Lakewood, Lynwood, Paramount and South Gate.
