I am running for Congress to protect my family's future, and the future of our Country. My goal as a candidate is to project a vision and rally individuals to secure liberty and happiness:

Understand the road that is laid out for us as Americans. We need to be warriors of Liberty. We must strive to defend and protect all individuals' rights and freedoms. This is not an easy task, as every day our government justifies its existence by trying to protect us and our children from ourselves.

The following are the goals I intend to pursue on behalf of the people of the 38th District:

1. I will work to reduce the size and scope of our federal government back to its Constitutional limits; thus protecting those liberties afforded us under the Constitution, in particular the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
2. I will work to reduce spending in all areas of government, and, whenever possible, work to end programs that can be run more efficiently by the private sector.
3. I will work to see an end to the federal income tax, and to shutting down the IRS. If at all possible I will work towards the repeal of the 16th Amendment.
4. I call for an end to the federally funded War on Drugs. The Federal Government has no Constitutional authority in such an endeavor.
5. I will propose a bill for an actual Congressional pay cut, effectively ending all Congressional perks and pensions. Furthermore, to support my own cause in this bill, I promise to accept no Congressional perks or pensions offered. I will pay my own out-of-pocket expenses.

THE PROMISE

I promise to accept no Congressional perks or pensions offered, and pay all expenses incurred out of my own pocket. I will also, in an attempt to return the taxpayers money to them, give a minimum $2,500 of the current Congressional pay to each municipality within the 38th Congressional District of California. If any pay raises are instituted through my objection, that amount will be divided up, and added to the amount given back to the municipalities.

If I am willing to make federal cuts, I should be willing to take the first one. And I am.

Al Cuperus
