Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Paul D. Stutrud

Candidate for
Member, City Council Rohnert Park; City of Rohnert Park; 4 Year Term

This information is provided by the candidate

My platform issues are:

  • water shortage and stopping future growth until we have water under control
  • having separate fire and police departments. See my discussion of the fire department at < http://www.sonoma.edu/cja/info/RPFire.html>
  • cutting the Wine Tasting Center off the city's budget ($10,000 a month paid to the Sonoma County Wineries Association)
  • taking the Chamber of Commerce off the city's budget ($65,000 and more, a year)
  • replacing our current highly paid city manager and staff with people the City of Rohnert Park can afford
  • keeping the city limits where they are now!

I don't believe this city can afford to add more houses and more growth beyond the current city limits. More important, the lands to the east of Snyder Avenue are needed more for ground-water recharge than they are for more development. The water table has gone down at least 150 feet and has not recovered in the last ten or more years.
