Joseph McIntyre is a 16 year resident of the Forestville School District. He has two children in public education, one a high school freshman, the other a second grader. He and his wife of 22 years, Amy, own and operate Childkind Schools which has been serving our community for 16 years at its Laguna Road location. Childkind Preschool is highly respected in the community for the quality education it provides children ages 2 to 5. Childkind also offers an after-school program on the campus of Oak Grove School.

Joseph is an active member of our community. For the past two years he served on the Forestville School District Advisory Committee, helping to establish funding priorities for a variety of restricted funds the District receives. He is the President of the Forestville Soccer Club, which serves over 200 Forestville School children with recreational soccer. He is also a soccer coach and referee.

For the past 16 years Joseph has helped to hire, retain, and support an outstanding teaching staff at Childkind Schools. He has unique experience in what it takes to work with teachers, deal with difficult educational situations, and create a positive learning environment. This experience would be invaluable to Forestville School as it works to improve Board and staff relationships.

Joseph holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts, from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California, which he earned with honors. He also holds a Masters of Arts degree in Economics, from the University of Rhode Island. He has taught economics at the university level at both the University of Rhode Island and New College of California.

Joseph began his career as a Volunteer in Service to America (VISTA) working in economic development with Native Americans in Idaho. After completing his Masters Degree, he worked in the telecommunications industry with Pacific Telephone and MCI. 17 years ago Joseph and his wife moved to Sonoma County with the dream of opening a high-quality preschool. Good fortune brought them to Forestville where they have lived ever since.

In Sonoma County, Joseph has worked in both the non-profit sector and the corporate sector. He served as Executive Director of Resources for Creativity, an organization that focused on training of facilitators and family therapists in the use of art therapy. Most recently he has served as Director of Conferences for MicroDesign Resources and O'Reilly and Associates. Currently he focuses on his responsibilities at Childkind Schools and with a consulting practice that serves organizations managing and planning for change.

Joseph is highly experienced in complex budgeting and finance issues, personnel policies, computer technology, and facilitation of meetings. He hopes to bring all his skills and experience to helping keep Forestville School an outstanding place for children.
