Candidate Statement

By Ken Brown

Candidate for Member, City Council; City of Sonoma

This information is provided by the candidate
My qualificatins as presented in the Voter's Pamphlet.
As a 25 year resident my well grounded leadership provides fiscal balance and has contributed to our city's financial strength. As your council representative I have worked hard to build additional water storage, remove harmful materials from our dump and spearheaded the reduction of toxic pesticide use on city land.

If reelected I will continue my work to encourage economic, social and cultural diversity, attract sustainable businesses, assure only sensible growth occurs, create workforce housing for local citizens, implement effective traffic, bike, and pedestrian plans and secure funds for open space acquisition.

As a father of four, with a child in public school, assuring recreational opportunities and public safety is a priority.

My commitment runs deep for Sonoma--serving as Mayor 2000-2001 and a council member since 1998. My community involvement also includes: President, Sonoma Community Center; Chairman, Cultural and Fine Arts Commission; Committee member Save our Hospital; Mentor, Sonoma Valley Mentoring Alliance; Member, VFW post 1947 and President, Sister Cities.

I seek your vote for reelection because Sonoma's future depends on responsible, dedicated, elected officials and involved citizens working together to make our community a safe, healthy, clean and prosperous place to live, work and raise a family.
