DAVID E.WOODS

Education and Qualifications:

East Palo Alto residence since 1975. I attended school in Ravenswood City School District, Carlmont High School and Foothill College. I served six years in the United States Marine Corps. My final assignment was acting fiscal chief, responsible for budgeting. I am currently Vice-Chairperson of the East Palo Alto Planning Commission. I am committed to the citizens of East Palo Alto, not special interests. My voting record proves that. My focus will be on responsible development, less displacement of current residents, fiscal accountability and street repair. I would insure that new businesses implement first source hiring practices for East Palo Alto residents. I will listen and respond to citizen concerns. Residents' input must be taken into account before decisions are made. I will reach out to get more citizens involved in public meetings. I would like to see more after school programs for the youth. These programs focus must be on education, but at the same time, incorporate activities that will keep the youth interested in attending. I have a deep interest in our seniors. City council meetings must be accessible to the seniors. This must be done through providing transportation or video/television coverage of the meetings. East Palo Alto has made great strides in the last 10 years. Progress must continue, but not to the detriment of those who were here during the bad times.

East Palo Alto deserves honest, caring and capable leadership. You can make that happen by voting for David E. Woods on November 05, 2002.
