Four years ago I was elected to the office of Commissioner. The Harbor District governs not only the Port but the waters and the beach at Avila. It has been a good four years for the Port and Avila Beach:

  • The Avila Beach oil clean-up is finished, the beach is open to the public again and the town is rebuiding.

  • The Unocal pier has been donated to Cal Poly for marine research.

  • The harbor has received over $2,000000 in grant money. Consequently, taxpayers were not required to pay for these improvements, including a new boatyard, lighthouse access, beach cleaning euqipment, new dredging equipment, pier improvements, Avila Beach restrooms and beach access.

This list could continue and I am proud to have contributed to the most progressive period Avila Beach and Port San Luis has ever seen. I am looking forward to another four years of serving as Harbor Commissioner.

This job is public service. No candidate should be re-elected unless he has been effective and of service to the public. I'm proud of my accomplishments during the past 4 years.
