Shall the Paso Robles Joint Unified School District issue bonds in the amount of $6,700,000, at the lowest available interest rate per annum within legal limits, to construct a new two story addition with fourteen additional classrooms and a new P.E. teaching complex, expand the gym, and convert two existing classrooms to science labs, at the high school in Paso Robles with a citizens' oversight committee to monitor and audit bond expenditures?

Arguments For Measure N-02 Arguments Against Measure N-02
Over the past year, a committee of concerned citizens, comprised of community leaders, parents and school staff, studied the conditions of our local school facilities. That study revealed that the number of children attending Paso Robles schools has dramatically increased, and that Paso Robles High School, which was designed to support 1200 students, now enrolls over 2000 students. The High School contains 20 portables and there is no space for additional portables. Conservative enrollment projections indicate that the High School will have 2500 students within four years. Our growing student population requires more classrooms and support facilities if we are to continue our tradition of excellence in education.

The school district has made every effort to manage its resources wisely. Funds from our now expired tax over-ride were used to build four elementary schools, one middle school, and Paso Robles High School. In addition, the district has realized maximum benefits from state and federal funding.

Measure N-02 pertains to all property taxpayers who live within the boundaries of the former union high school district, including San Miguel and Pleasant Valley. Measure N-02 will support $6.7 million in high school projects, and the tax rate will be approximately $22 per $100,000 of accessed valuation. Measure N-02 will:

  • Build a new 14-classroom building to house over 400 students
  • Replace portables with two classrooms, locker rooms and a weight room to support our physical education programs
  • Expand the existing gym
  • Create two additional science lab classrooms

The money raised by Measure N-02 will remain in our community and benefit our children. None of the funds will be used for anything other than the identified facilities, and an independent citizens committee will monitor all expenditures on those projects.

Please support adequate facilities for our children. Vote yes on Measure N-02
