John Harris for City Councilman

By John W. Harris

Candidate for Council Member; City of Manteca

This information is provided by the candidate
Like many of Manteca's residents, I am a transplant from elsewhere. However, Manteca has been my home for years. I graduated from Manteca High School and went on to receive a Bachelor's Degree from Sacramento State College and a Master's Degree from Capman University.

I devoted 32 years to San Joaquin County as a probation officer until retirement in 1995. My last three years the Superior Court appointed me as their juvenile traffic hearing officer. I also served twelve years as a trustee for Manteca Unified School District.

My full-time job is being your city councilman. I concentrate my efforts on public service, public safey, bringing precious surface water to our community, securing infrastructure to accommodate more industry and commerce so our neighbors will commute less, founding member of the Altamont Commuter Express train to relieve traffic congestion, helped extend library hours, and worked with the San Joaquin Partnership to bring more than 10,000 jobs to San Joaquin County since its inception.

If elected again, I will guard our sensible 3.9 percent growth cap so that we can continue to provide the essential services and quality of life our citizens want and deserve.
